2014 Teacher Interview

1. How did you first start practicing Wushu?

I saw my friends practicing Wushu on my lawn and wanted to start right away. They took me to their studio (South Coast Martial Arts) and I've done it ever since.

2. If you did not start practicing Wushu do you think you would of found another fighting style or sport?

Yes. I've been surrounded by all kinds of sports, including fighting sports.

3. Is there any similarity between gymnastics and wushu?

Definitely.  They both have acrobatics and routines, both of which take time and preparation.

4. What inspires you?

The people around me.  I'm very blessed with certain circumstances that I've come across in my life, and everyone I meet or surround myself with really help me with my goals that sometimes seem out of reach.  That is such an inspiration to me to keep going, to fight on, even when I feel like giving up.

5. What are your future aspirations?

To make a difference in people lives and in my future children's lives.

6. Do you have a role model or belief/ code that you live by?

I always tell myself that everything happens for a reason and so far it seems to be true.

7. If you had a superpower what would it be? Or what's your spirit animal?

I would definitely want to fly!

8. What is your favorite move or style?

My favorite move is a front stretch kick.

9. Have you expanded your knowledge outside of your style?

I'd like to think so.  But there's still so much to learn.

10. Anything else you would like to add or that you think people should know?

I love meeting new people and learning new things.
